First Screenshots From Call of Cthulhu Released

H.P. Lovecraft’s beloved short story Call of Cthulhu, as well as the pop culture icon at the heart of it (the monster himself), is currently being adapted by Cyanide Studios into a fully-formed RPG.

While Cyanide is an independent gaming production company, they have pumped out some great titles over the years, including the well-received Styx: Master of Shadows in 2014. The company have divulged that their adaptation of the Lovecraft classic will be an RPG investigative game with thriller elements and stealth mechanics to ensure an immersive experience.

The main goal of the game is “to find the truth behind the death of an acclaimed artist and her family on a backwater island, the player will soon uncover a more disturbing truth as the Great Dreamer, Cthulhu, prepares its awakening” which actually is pretty close to the original short story. While a short trailer was revealed at this year’s E3 convention (click here to watch), developers and production studios are notorious for making content (gameplay, trailers, etc.) that is not reflective of the finished product.

However, Cyanide Studios have recently released some key screenshots from the game (created in Unreal Engine 4) and they look phenomenal. Check them out for yourself below. If these are anything to go by, hopes are rightfully high for Call of Cthulhu and Cyanide Studios to do justice to Lovecraft for an RPG platform.
