I did try not to watch the trailer to Oculus, directed by Mike Flanagan (as I hate to be shown all the best bits) but I caught it about halfway through unintentionally on the TV recently and it does look so good!!
I’m excited for this one so I decided to find out more about it without knowing exactly step by step what is going to happen.
So Oculus tells the story of brother and sister, Kaylie and Tim Russell, played by Karen Gillan and Brenton Thwaites.
Both witnessed a deadly family tragedy ten years ago that left Tim’s psyche in a state of fragility and sent him over the edge, being placed in a mental institution where he spent most of his younger years. Fast forward to the present day and a lonely Kaylie is finally reunited with her brother, convincing Tim that an antique mirror in their home was the cause of the tragic events that happened during their childhood.
Kaylie and Tim’s attempts to find answers and draw out the evil leads to violent hallucinations and flashbacks that puts both siblings in danger and challenges the sanity of a recuperating Tim.
I’ve heard great things about Oculus and I will be first in line to see it when it comes out on the 11th April 2014.
