Aftermath finds nine strangers coming together in the wake of a nuclear apocalypse. Each of them seeks refuge in the basement of an abandoned farmhouse. The survivors face a lack of rations and hoards of hungry zombies that want to come inside. As time passes, it becomes more apparent that they will have to face the outside world if they have any hope of survival.

Aftermath is directed by Peter Engert and written by Christian McDonald. It stars Edward Furlong (Brainscan) and Monica Keena (Freddy vs. Jason) as survivors of the apocalypse. The film aims to be a character study of the lengths to which people will go when survival is on the line.

The trailer makes the film appear very generic and offers little hope that Aftermath will bring anything new to the already saturated zombie sub-genre. The trailer also suggests that the performances will be exceedingly poor. So, I am not holding my breath for this one.

Aftermath was intended to see release in 2012 but it was postponed due to complications with distribution. The film recently made a small theatrical bow with a simultaneous VOD release. It will be available on DVD and Blu-ray August 26, 2014 if you feel the need to give it a try.
