Todd McFarlane Has Completed His First Draft of Spawn Remake Script

spawn 1997 - Todd McFarlane

Todd McFarlane has long been attempting to revive the Spawn franchise, most recently with a remake. There have been many roadblocks standing in the way of the project getting off the ground but we do have some definite progress to report today. According to BD, McFarlane very recently completed his first draft of the screenplay. The copy that is reportedly circulating now is dated February 15, 2017.

McFarlane has previously reported that the film he is working on will not be a continuation of the 1997 feature film that disappointed fans and critics alike. It will be dark and a hard ‘R’. He has also revealed that he plans to direct the project himself and to do so with a lean budget.

There’s still no definitive word on when the film will be heading into production or a targeted release date. But we will keep you in the loop as we learn more.

The 1997 original saw a mercenary being killed but later resurrected as a henchman for the devil himself.
