The Guest comes from the same creative team responsible for the home invasion thriller You’re Next. As with their previous collaboration, Adam Wingard is at the helm and Simon Barrett has penned the screenplay. The film stars Dan Stevens (Vamps), Maika Monroe (Bad Blood), and Ethan Embry (Vacancy).

The Guest was filmed over the course of roughly one and a half months in New Mexico last summer. Picturehouse has acquired the U.S. distribution rights and will release the film to select theaters beginning September 17, 2014.

Advance reviews from the festival circuit have been overwhelmingly positive. The film currently holds a 90% fresh rating on the aggregate film rating website Rotten Tomatoes.

The premise of The Guest sees a soldier returning from war who seeks out the family of one of his fallen comrades. He works his way into their good graces but something about him isn’t quite right. Everywhere he goes, a trail of unexplained deaths follow.
