The Howling is Being Remade

The Howling Sequels

As of this posting, the latest news on the remake of Joe Dante’s The Howling sees Emaji Entertainment scoring the rights to the 1981 werewolf thriller.  The franchise currently boasts a total of eight films (all of which owe a certain level of inspiration to the Gary Brander novels).

Emaji is also working on a remake of Dee Snyder’s Strangeland (which will reportedly see Dee Snyder returning as Captain Howdy).

The Howling follows a news reporter who is viciously attacked while chasing down a story. In an attempt to recuperate from the incident, she visits an island commune. Once there, she discovers that the inhabitants of the isle are actually bloodthirsty werewolves.

Joe Dante’s The Howling was made on a budget of $1.5 Million and went on to gross a total of nearly $18 Million at the box office.

No word just yet on when the proposed remake would go into production, who would script or helm, or any other details at this juncture but we will keep you in the loop as we learn more about the project.
