RIP Lorraine Warren, Thanks For the Scares

Were Ed and Lorraine Warren Fakes?

The world of the paranormal has suffered a major loss this week. It was announced earlier that renowned paranormal investigator, Lorraine Rita Warren has passed away at the age of 92. Lorraine and her husband Ed were well known for their involvement in numerous cases of hauntings and demonic possession.

The history of the Warren’s is a colorful one. In addition to investigating several well known cases such as Amityville, director James Wan lifted stories directly from the Warren’s case files for his films The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, introducing a whole new generation to the Warrens.

Since 1952 Lorraine and Ed Warren dedicated themselves to studying the paranormal and the search for answers when they formed The New England Society for Psychic Research. Their investigations took them all around the world and led to 6 books. They were said to have investigated over 10,000 cases.

Ed and Lorraine were well known for keeping a museum in their home of cursed and haunted artifacts. These had been collected over the years during various investigations. Included in this collection is the reportedly cursed Annabelle doll that inspired the feature film series of the same name. The dire warning “Positively do not open” greets visitors when viewing it.

While Ed and Lorraine were not immune from controversy and naysayers, at the minimum I think we can all agree they shined a light on the unexplained and the fact that the world is weirder than we realize, and for that I thank both of them. Godspeed Lorraine, hopefully you now have all the answers you’ve been trying to find.
