After delighting horror fans as Max in The Lost Boys, he went on to star as a series regular on Gilmore Girls and won an Emmy for his guest spot on The Practice in 1999. Herrmann was a seasoned character actor with roles in HBO’s Oz, Black Box, St. Elsewhere, and countless other primetime and film appearances. In addition to his Emmy win, the actor was also awarded a Tony for his turn in the 1976 broadway production Mrs. Warren’s Profession.
Herrmann was well liked by his peers in the film industry. His Gilmore Girls costar Lauren Graham sent out a heartfelt tweet commemorating his passing earlier today. Graham referred to him as the kindest, classiest, and most talented man.
Hermann had been in ICU for the past three weeks, according to a statement his family provided to TMZ. The actor was previously diagnosed with brain cancer. When he was not responsive to treatment, his family made the decision to take him off the respirator. Our condolences go out to his friends and family in their time of grief. He will be missed.
