Release Date For The Predator Moved Forward

Predator Sequel Movie

Fox’s highly-anticipated sequel The Predator, which is due to begin shooting this fall with writer/director Shane Black (The Nice Guys) at the helm, has had its release date brought forward.

The movie, which was initially due to hit theatres on March 2nd, 2018, is now slated for release on February 9th instead.

Collider reports that The Predator is due to go toe-to-toe with Fifty Shades Freed, the third and final installment in the Fifty Shades Of Grey trilogy, meaning there will be something for everyone on that pre-Valentine’s weekend.

The site also suggests that Fox may be trying to ape Deadpool‘s success, as it was released that very same weekend this year. This is particularly pertinent given how Black has emphatically stated he wishes to make The Predator an event film, with a hard R-rating.

Only little snippets are known about the movie thus far, with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s involvement still up in the air (though, as we reported previously, rapper Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson seems pretty convinced he’s been cast).

The Predator is a collaboration between Black, who’s known mostly for action-comedies such as Lethal Weapon and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and writer Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad).

When the project was first announced, it was rumored that it would be a direct sequel to the first film, ignoring everything that came after it. And it seems as though that may still be the case.
