Original Suspiria Star Boards Remake!

Suspiria soundtracks a beginner's guide to argento - Horror Trilogies - Horror movies that would make great haunted house attractions

It’s been a few months since we’ve had any news on Amazon Studios’ upcoming remake of Suspiria. The last casting update tapped Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton for the long-discussed reboot, under the watchful eye of director Luca Guadagnino, whom they both worked with on A Bigger Splash.

Now, it seems there may be more reason to celebrate as Entertainment Weekly reports Jessica Harper, the star of Dario Argento’s original 1977 movie, is also set to star in the upcoming remake.

Harper joins Johnson, Swinton, Chloë Grace Moretz (fast becoming a modern Scream Queen in her own right, following roles in recent remakes Let Me In and Carrie) and Mia Goth. Guadagnino hasn’t revealed too much about the project as of yet, but he did confirm previously that we can expect to see strong influences of Fassbinder in his redux and that it will be very different to Argento’s movie.

According to the official log-line:

Suspiria concerns Susie Bannion, a young American woman who travels to the prestigious Markos Tanz Company in Berlin in 1977, arriving just as one of its members, Patricia, has disappeared under mysterious circumstances. As Susie makes extraordinary progress under the guidance of Madame Blanc, the Company’s revolutionary artistic director, she befriends another dancer, Sara, who shares her suspicions that the Matrons, and the Company itself, may be harboring a dark and menacing secret

The project was originally going to be helmed by David Gordon Green but the director eventually parted ways with the project.

We don’t know when Suspiria is set to begin lensing, but we do know that Johnson is reportedly working on two Fifty Shades films back to back until at least June. We will keep you apprised as soon as we learn more about this project.
