The long discussed sequel to the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th is reporting some movement. When Collider caught up with producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form and probed for details on the next installment in the series, the site learned that the new Friday the 13th film is still in the script phase. Fans were hoping to see a sequel released this year but that is becoming less likely by the minute. “Just working on the script still. Hoping to make that movie this year and Brad, I’m gonna confirm that Jason is in the movie,” said Form when the outlet turned the conversation to progress on the franchise.
It was speculated around this time last year that Jason would not be in the next Friday the 13th film but that allegation turned out to be very false, thus why Form made a point to revisit the issue and clear up the misconception. So, one could count this as good news but seeing as how we had thought a sequel may see release as early as November of this year, it could also be seen as a mixed bag. Given the time it takes to write, shoot, edit, and market a film, there is nearly no chance that release date will stand. But rest assured that we will keep you in the loop as we learn more about the forthcoming second installment in the rebooted franchise!
