Brand-New Blair Witch Images Get Lost In The Woods

Blair Witch - The Woods

We’re just one week away from the biggest, and most highly-anticipated horror release of the year, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett’s Blair Witch, a surprise ‘threequel’ to the original, seminal The Blair Witch Project.

Now, courtesy of Dread Central, we’ve got a brand-new image gallery to dissect before the flick finally hits theaters next week.

The photos released thus far, along with the blood-curdling teaser trailers, suggest that the featured group of intrepid adventurers (one of whom is brother to original star Heather) may just stumble upon that house from the original movie, as well as tussling with the titular, vengeful spirit in the dark.

Check out a couple of the most evocative images below.

Blair Witch is the brainchild of long-time collaborators Wingard (directing) and Barrett (writing), who have previously gifted us massive genre hits You’re Next and The Guest. It stars Valorie Curry, Callie Hernandez, and James Allen McCune. Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Keith Calder, and Jessica Wu are all on board to produce.

The synopsis sounds pretty intriguing:

A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.

You can check out the rest of the images over on Dread Central.

Stay tuned to Wicked Horror for our review upon the film’s release on September 16th.
