Neil Blomkamp Alien Film is Actually Happening

Neil Blomkamp. The poster art for Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien. Things you probably didn't know about Alien.

The Internet has been ablaze since Neil Blomkamp dropped some of his concept art for a new proposed  Alien film. One thing led to another and the project has continued to gain steam, culminating in this latest announcement.

The District 9 director has just given word via his Instagram account that he expects that the Alien sequel he had conceptualized will actually be his next film! See proof below.

This is a great example of how things happen in the current filmmaking climate. Deals aren’t always brokered in boardrooms, anymore. In this case, the project came to fruition as a result of some viral photos Neil Blomkamp had done in his spare time. The artwork was not commissioned by the studio but created so much of a stir that the project has become a reality. The director described the idea as a simple aspiration that he was always sure could happen. Fortunately for him and for fans of the franchise that were disappointed by Prometheus (all of us) this is great news.

Little else is known about the project at this point but rest assured that we will keep you in the loop as soon as more credible information is received.
