We recently revealed a first look at the logo (pictured below) for the new MTV Scream series and also shared a premiere date for the upcoming small screen adaptation with you. Today brings a bit of casting news for the show.
Amelia Rose Blaire (who played Willa in the latter seasons HBO’s True Blood) has been revealed as a series regular on the upcoming small screen incarnation of Wes Craven’s Scream. According to TVLine, Blaire will play Piper Shay, the host of a popular podcast who comes to town to investigate the recent surge of deaths.
The Scream series will make its small screen debut this summer with the show slated to debut June 30, 2015.
The series will follow a group of high school students who are being targeted by an unknown killer. In addition to Blaire, the cast will include Willa Fitzgerald (Alpha House), Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing), John Karna, Connor Weil (Sharknado), Bobby Campo (The Final Destination) Carlson Young and Amadeus Serafini. The program also stars Joel Gretsch (Push) and Tracy Middendorf (New Nightmare).
Jill Blotevogel (Harper’s Island) is serving as the series’ executive producer and showrunner; she also rewrote the original script by Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin. Wes Craven is an additional executive producer alongside Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena, and Cathy Konrad. Harvey and Bob Weinstein will also executive produce.
