Jurassic World 2 Is Now Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Jurassic World 2

We’re still a year out from Jurassic World 2 but that hasn’t slowed the flow of tantalizing information about the movie. Hot off the news that Jeff Goldbum would be returning to the franchise as “sassy” and “saucy” Dr. Ian Malcolm, we now have an official title and poster to pore over.

Jurassic World 2 will be released as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. That title doesn’t really give us many clues as to the intricate details of the plot (it’s actually kind of terrible), but hopefully more will be forthcoming in the months leading up to the movie’s release.

2015’s Jurassic World starred Chris Pratt (Jennifer’s Body) as an Indiana Jones-style vagabond and Bryce Dallas Howard (Terminator Salvation) as a prissy stick in the mud. Both are set to reprise their roles in Fallen Kingdom alongside Goldblum, Justice Smith, James Cromwell and Toby Jones.

Frank Marshall and Stephen Spielberg will be back to executive produce. Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly penned the screenplay for the forthcoming sequel.  The Orphanage and A Monster Calls‘ J.A. Bayona will be at the helm as director.

Jurassic World brought in $1.67 Billion at the global box office. It currently stands as the fourth highest grossing film of all time.

The movie picked up nearly 25 years after the events of Spielberg’s seminal Jurassic Park. Isla Nublar has worked out its ‘kinks’ and is a fully operational as a tourist destination. The park is now owned by the Patel Corporation. In response to declining tickets sales and a general lack of public interest in the park, the Patel Corporation introduces a new attraction to revitalize interest in the park. As should be expected, things don’t work out as planned and the park’s human visitors become dinosaur snacks.

The targeted release date for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is June 22, 2018. Check out the just-released poster for the movie below.
