Usually news is filtered down to us by way of press release or exclusive announcement. But this casting tidbit bypassed traditional channels and was shared straight to IMDb. We now know who will be playing Samara in Rings and what’s interesting is that it’s not the actress’s first time playing the character. Head past the break for all the details!
The Internet Movie Database is reporting that Bonnie Morgan will reprise her role as Samara. She first appeared as the character in an uncredited appearance in The Ring 2. Morgan is no stranger to genre fare. The actress and contortionist has appeared in The Devil Inside, The Last Witch Hunter, Piranha 3D and more.
In addition to being credited as Samara in the film, IMDb also provided a series of behind-the-scenes stills depicting her in character. We have those available for you to check out, right here.
Rings will be released in theaters October 28, 2016. As we previously reported, Javier Gutiérrez, the director of the upcoming installment, has promised that his new film will absolutely be a sequel and not a prequel to The Ring.
Akiva Goldsman, David Loucka and Jacob Aaron Estes co-penned the script, which is based on a novel by Koji Suzuki.
The 2002 feature film, The Ring tells the story of a haunted VHS cassette that causes anyone that watches it to die seven days later. The tape is associated with the ghosts of a young girl named Samara who appears to have died an untimely and violent death.
