To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story Launches Indiegogo Campaign

Kane Hodder - Unmasked by Kane hodder and Michael Aloisi book cover

If horror fans didn’t get enough of the fascinating life of stuntman and actor Kane Hodder with his book Unmasked (read our review here), there is a new documentary in the works that will chronicle his story in even more detail.  To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story is the work of director/producer Derek Dennis Herbert and producer Andrew Thomas Barcello, co-founders of Masterfully Macabre Entertainment. They promise that To Hell and Back is “the definitive and exclusive biographical documentary” of one of horror’s favorite icons.

Masterfully Macabre recently launched an Indigogo campaign to raise awareness about the project with a set goal of $50,000. It is currently live and will run until Tuesday, May 24, 2016. In addition to helping out the documentary itself, some of the funds from the campaign will be donated to the Bothin Burn Center in San Francisco. It was the first burn center in California, and the place that brought Hodder back from the brink of death after the serious burn injury he suffered at the beginning of his career. Fans that wish to contribute have several options for perks depending on the amount. These include a signed DVD or Blu-Ray, a t-shirt, a poster, and even some truly unique perks like a 20-second video threat from Hodder, and a chance to spend a day with him on set. The campaign can be found at kanehoddermovie.com. And stay tuned this Friday the 13th when Masterfully Macabre will release a new video and add even more perks to the campaign!

To Hell and Back will tell the story of Kane’s youth and the bullying he endured, to him growing up on a small island, to when he finally became the horror icon he is today. Kane will tell the real story of his burns for the first time on camera, and there will also be some never-before-seen footage of insider thoughts on Freddy vs. Jason. For anyone that knows Hodder’s story or read his book, two very special inclusions into the doc will be seeing Kane meet the doctor who treated him at the Bothin Burn Center, and also meeting the woman who invited him into her house the day he was burned and helped save his life. There will be several interviews with Kane’s co-workers and friends, like Robert Englund, Cassandra Peterson, Sid Haig, Danielle Harris, Felissa Rose, Adam Green, Bruce Campbell, Bill Moseley, and many others.

Kane’s story is both inspirational and heartbreaking, and this doc will no doubt be something that fans will want to see. Producer Andrew Barcello says, “You will go from crying with Kane, to being on the edge of your seat, and that’s what we love about it.” Visit kanehoddermovie.com to see the trailer and Indiegogo video.
