As for the release date and distribution strategy, The outlet is reporting that the film will hit DirecTV exclusively on September 21, 2017. It will then make a limited theatrical bow and VOD debut on October 20, 2017.
I’m surprised that the film isn’t getting a proper theatrical release. But, I suppose it’s a sign of the changing times.
In an interview with BD, Leatherface directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo offered a brief description as to what we can expect from the film, calling it “a brutal and nihilistic road movie that we hope will surprise and delight the fans…”
Lili Taylor, James Bloor Sam Strike, Stephen Dorff, and Angela Bettis star in the upcoming prequel, which will follow Leatherface as a young man.
