We have just learned, by way of TheArnoldFans that Arnold Schwarzenegger may be eyeing his first return to the Predator universe since the 1987 original. This is, by no means, a sure thing. But it definitely sounds like Schwarzenegger is interested and it’s hard to imagine Shane Black not wanting the man that kicked it all of to return. But a lot of hoops would have to be jumped through, schedules would need to be aligned, and red tape would have to be sliced. So, we will see what happens when all is said and done. See what The Governator had to say below!
“I haven’t talked with him [Shane Black] yet but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon,” Schwarzenegger explained. “Just as soon as I’m finished with this [Arnold’s Sports Festival] and The Apprentice and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away. There’s also a meeting coming up soon about Conan, about the project moving forward.”
It’s not entirely clear if Schwarzenegger would be returning as Dutch or as a different character. But hopefully, he will be reprising his iconic role from the original film.
The picture is scheduled for release March 2nd, 2018. It is a collaboration between writer Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad) and director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). Decker made the announcement last year that he had finished his treatment of the script but things were fairly quiet on the Predator front until recently. The newly released teaser image (featured above) appears to allude to the film being called The Predator. We still don’t know when production is slated to begin but with a release date announced, it’s likely set to commence in the near future.
When the project was first announced, it was rumored that this would be a direct sequel to the first film, ignoring all the others that came after it. And as far as we know, that is still the case.
Stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more on this as it is announced as well as the latest in horror news and more!
