Dimension Films has inexplicably pulled both Amityville: The Awakening and Demonic from its upcoming release schedule. Demonic was previously scheduled to make its debut December 12th with Amityville planned for a January 2, 2015 release. It’s not uncommon for films to be shifted around for various reasons but it is a little unusual for a picture that is scheduled to release in less than three months to be pulled with no explanation as to why and no word as to where the rescheduled release date will see the film landing.

The Frank Khalfoun directed Amityville stars Bella Thorne (Home Invasion), Cameron Monaghan (Vampire Academy), and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hitcher). Khalfoun also penned the script for this upcoming release. It will function as a sequel rather than a remake. The storyline of this sequel will follow an investigative news intern who compiles an expert team of Priests, Demonologists, and fellow journalists in an attempt to solve the mystery behind the Amityville house.

Demonic, which is presented by James Wan is set in the aftermath of a massacre that claimed the lives of five college friends who came together in an abandoned house to summon the dead. The film is co-written by Wan and Will Cannon with Cannon at the helm. It stars Maria Bello (Secret Window) and Frank Grillo (The Grey).

We will keep you in the loop as more information becomes available regarding release dates for these two titles.
